|
Abglanz was a 164 cm
Trakehner stallion (1942 - 1964)
was perhaps the most influential stallion of modern
time in the Hanoverian breeding district, and his infusion of Trakehner
lightness and ‘blood’ can be clearly seen in today’s modern Hannoverian
horse.
Abglanz was royally bred, his dam, Abendluft was a full-sister to the
influential stallions, Absinth, Absalon and Abendstern.
At the stallion station at Jork, he produced three famous brothers - Abhang
I, II and III, as well as their full sister, Zukunft who competed with
success internationally with Alwin Schockemöhle. Just 160 cm, Abhang I
produced elegant horses. Abhang II, at 157 cm, was the smallest of the
three, but produced great dressage horses, with charm and movement. Abhang
III, the tallest of the three, sired mainly showjumpers. All told Abglanz
sired 19 Approved sons, with progeny earnings of over DM324,000.
Abglanz and his progeny are credited with bringing about great improvement
in the head and neck of the Hanoverian horses.
However Abglanz’s influence was most felt through his son Absatz who
was out of the Hannoverian mare, Landmoor who on her sire’s side traces to
the famous English Thoroughbred, Perfectionist xx, and on her dam’s side
from the Shagya stallion Shagy XVII. Absatz was the sire of stallions such
as
Argentan, Arsenik,
Akzent I and II, Admiral I and II, Aktuell and Aderlaß.
Prominent in the paternal side of our Hanoverian mare

Admiral I
. Born in 1970, in 1972 he became champion young stallion and in 1974,
he won the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. This win,
together with his outstanding first crop of foals gained him the la
main premium. Only a little while later, after only two covering
seasons at the Cappeln station, the stallion unfortunately died of
blood poisoning. His progeny were excellent riding horses with a great
deal of lustre and of good size. Many of his daughters received awards
at Oldenburg mare shows. He presented eight approved sons,
Adriano in Hanover, The one year younger full-brother of Admiral
I, Admiral II was mainly applied as a competition sports stallion and
inter alia, had a number of wins in the Hanoverian state
championships. His easily surveyed progeny are highly qualified in
advanced dressage sport. As regards the stallion performance test, the
brothers Admiral I and II incidentally achieved a never repeated
double victory when both of them won in Adelheidsdorf in 1973
respectively, 1974. Even today, Admiral I still has a top position in
the FN breeding value rating for dressage, in spite of his few
progeny.
Admirand by Admiral I was
the father of Firorella Queen; she was sold in VECHTA 1983 for 200.000
DM. Top-dressage-h.

Akzent II Hanoverian son
of Absatz, is the sire of our broodmare
Aliane.
Akzent II is considered to be
one of the most accomplished sires of ride ability of modern horse breeding
and has been the cause of positive news headlines many a time. It is
noteworthy that he recommends himself particularly well on the maternal side
of pedigrees, as is evident with the highly esteemed hereditary transmitters
De Niro, Dimension, Gralshuter, Carismo, Welton, Trend, Pik Labionics, World
Man G, tannus Ass and Gracieux, who all derive from Akzent II daughters. The
great- grandam state premium mare Demut together produced outstanding
competition sports horses. Akzent II, who had always been versatile in his
heredity, began his career as a private stallion and precursor of Calypso II
at the Amselhof Walle, respectively also as a leasehold stallion at the
Celle state stud, where he sired his first and particularly highly esteemed
sons Acapulco, Akut and Alonso before developing into a true sire of
champions in Oldenburg. A number of candidates were a sensation at federal
championships and Vechta auctions, including i.a. the bay Aczidos (DM
130,000, Vechta, autumn 1989) and the approved chestnut stallion Alabaster
(federal champion German dressage horse in Warendorf in 1994). |

Aldato (by Anblick xx) sired Warthburg, dam of
Langraf. Aldato, the brilliant show trotter, and certainly the most
outstanding son of the foundation sire Anblick xx Also in

Anblick xx is a
very influential Thoroughbred stallion that is found in many European
studbooks. His descendants are known for their jumping ability.
One of his most famous offspring is Aldato. Anblick himself is the
dam sire of Trakehner stallion Harnich.
Aldato is found in
Cotopaxi's dam line since he is the
sire of Lenz's dam, Franzoesin. Thus he is found in the lineage
of
Cantamos. In the maternal lineage of Aster we find Anblick's
influence as well. |

 |
Argentan, Hanoverian by
Absatz, covered at the Bargstedt station all his life and presented both
top international competition sport horses as well as mares of the very
highest quality. Argentan I, whose most famous stallion son is Argentinus,
had the image of being a maker of mares without this minimising his capacity
in sport, contrary to some stallions in Hanover's breeding history, who were
designated as makers of mares, after it was recognised that in spite of
manifold chances, they did not have what it took to succeed n sport.
Argentan II, the younger grey coloured full-brother, embodies the Trakehner
type of Lateran and only had few chances as a private stallion in Bavaria.
Argentan I became the biggest disseminator of Absatz blood in contemporary
breeding. He distinguished himself as a supplier of international show
jumpers and inspiring show mares such as Arabella, Aragonia and Ascona. He
moreover produced a total of 19 approved sons and 119 state premium mares.
The mating of Argentan I with the Einglas daughter Elfenfee resulted in the
rare transmission effect where everything is transmitted perfectly. Elfenfee
became the dam of the approved stallion Amani, the Federal Championship mare
Arabella and the World Cup show jumping champion Aramis/Mario Deslauriers,
an achievement that has remained unequalled to this very day. Similar
successes were attained in combination with daughters of Duden II. St. Pr.
Arabia is such a cross and the dam of St. Pr. Argentina. The
most significant product of this combination is the top sire Argentinus, but
other good horses also resulted from this combination of bloodlines, such as
the approved Atheist, who managed in only two years at stud in East
Friesland, to produce a series of useful sports horses, and the top quality
horse Itschutschuna/Achaz von Buchwaldt. It is interesting to note, that
both Atheist and Itschutschuna resulted from Argentan I' s first batch of
foals. Argentan I' s following age classes however always also produced
prime products. His offspring were not fixated to one special discipline.
Sometimes they had a slightly overloaded neck, a characteristic that the
progeny of his sons occasionally also display. In 1994, Argentan I was
declared Hanoverian stallion of the year. He has meanwhile reached the age
of 29 years and is a good example of toughness and longevity. Even at his
advanced age, a broken jaw healed without any problems. Stallion of the year
1994. |

Warmblood mare Sefane by the equally famous Lucky Boy XX. His
impressive jumping pedigree has been confirmed by his performance and his
breeding results both in Germany and Sweden.Oldenburg licensed and tested in
1986 in Medingen Germany, BEACH BOY placed 6 out of 52 stallions with 127.01
index, 5th in jumping with 127.91 and 15th in dressage with 113.20. In
Germany he has six approved sons and 122 competition horses of which 16 are

in Germany to date are over 200,000DM. Beyond Germany he has internationally
ranked competitors in jumping and three day eventing such as Beach Game,
Beach Star, Major Tom and Rabbisch. Since moving to Sweden he has claimed a
top echelon placing. He is the only stallion in Sweden to have an equally
high BLUP index of 141 for both jumping and gaits, which added to an index
for conformation of 128 gives him a total BLUP index of 137. Of 117
offspring in competition in Sweden, 25 are already in the medium to upper
level sport and he has at least one approved Swedish born son, Billy
Boy. |

Calando I
was champion German show jumper
with Karsten Huck in 1984 and thereafter competed in international show
jumping for a few more years with Edgar-Henri Cüpper for Belgium and
Luxemburg. The dam Ozol is the full-sister of the sire Libero (private
stallion Bavaria, Hessia), who was a highly successful show jumper. She was
furthermore the dam of Freestyle, a Landgraf I daughter, who was named
Lalique 2 in Germany and was a successful competition horse with Peter
Luther. She won the Aix la Chapelle Grand Prix with Jean Claude
Vangeenberghe. The damsire Lord, who was an approvals champion, made
breeding history far beyond the confines of Holstein and Germany. Countless
show jumping stars such as Livius II / P. Luther, Lyra 20 / H. Luther, Lord
Incipit / T. Luther, Loyal 9 / P. Nagel-Tornau, Lugana / St. Lauber and many
more are living proof of his prowess as a sire. The granddam state premium
mare Kornblume was mated with Ronald to produce the mare Sonnenblume, who in
turn gave birth to the two approved stallions Landron B (by Landgraf I;
private stallion Bavaria / Italy) and Lordron (by Lord; private stallion
Bavaria). The Anglo-Norman Cor de la Bryere who follows in the third
generation is one of the most important foundation sires of the post World
War II period. He provided sports horses for all disciplines. Anblick xx was
the first thoroughbred in Holstein following the Second World War and
managed to establish himself firmly in Holstein via 14 approved sons and 50
partially very significant broodmares. His best progeny by far, were the
dressage mares Venetia 2 and Antoinette at the Neckermann stables. His
progeny were not infrequently however also to be found in the forefront in
three-day-eventing and show jumping. Performance bloodline 456
moreover also produced the sires Texas, Marengo, Mahmud, Metellus, Rigoletto,
Ulan as well as Cabinett I and II.
Calando I sired Perra,
dam of
Carthago Z and thus is found in the pedigrees of
Cotopaxi
and his colt Cantamos

Capitol I
"Capitol has been
the best advertisement for Holstein. He is esteemed for his exceptional
jumping traits, enormous ability and his uncomplicated willingness to
perform ? characteristics that he unconditionally passes on to his
children", is the way Dr. Thomas Nissen, the breeding director of the
Holstein Verband, expresses it. The
query as to Capitol’s antecedents has been raised in an article by Gabrielle
Mohmann-Pochhammer (the editor of the German magazine, St Georg) in an
article in Horse International (No 5, 2001) According to Ms Pochhammer while
it is recorded that Capitol’s sire Capitano, is out of Retina, and by
Corporal, this may not be the case. "On paper the bay Corporal was the sire
of Capitano, but even when the stallion was still alive, doubts about the
pedigree kept surfacing. This was because Capitano was a grey who dominantly
passed on his colour, and is said to have produced only a few chestnut
foals. But homozygous greys usually have two greys as parents. At the time
in question, a young grey stallion, Vase’s son, Grand Vicar, by Colonel, had
been frolicking with Retina in the paddock. If the suspicions, which were
never substantiated by appropriate genetic tests, are true, then Capitol
would be the product of intensive in-breeding, and Ramzes’ blood would be in
his genes via Retina and Vase, and a third time via his grand-sire. But we
will never be sure about that…"
The yearling Capitol I was bought by the Holsteiner Verband, and he soon
established himself as one of the great showjumping sires, represented
internationally by jumpers such as Corso (ridden by the Swiss, Willi Meliger),
JR Number One (exported to the United States), Caruso Rex, Calle, and most
notably of recent times, Cento, a team gold medallist at the Sydney Games,
and who missed out of an individual medal by just one rail! Cento is winner
of the $1,000,000 CN Rail class at Spruce Meadows.
The grey stallion Capitol I, who was the sole upholder of the Cottage Son xx
line in Holstein for many years presented a number of stallion sons
including Calato, Cassini,
Carthago, Campione, Carolus I and II, Capriol and Campesino, who have
placed their ancestor’s genotype on a broader basis
once again. . Capitol passes on his valuable genes through more than 21
approved sons and 273 registered mares. With a breeding value of 154 points,
he stands among the top ten jumper sires in Germany Capitol I is the

Capitol II Capitol I’s
full-brother,was initially rejected by the licensing commission but was
approved on the basis of his performance as a showjumper. In 1993 he
presented his first crop of foals, and most of them were bay - which perhaps
adds strength to the argument about his older brother’s sire not being
Capitano. If further proof was needed, Capitol II is not listed at all in
the WBFSH standing for 2000/2001 (nor for that matter in the standings for
the past 10 years), while his ‘brother’ has pride of place - number one in
the standings with 38 progeny gaining points! |

Cassini The
grey stallion Cassini I probably enjoys the highest esteem of any Capitol I
son in Holstein breeding. He was advanced international show jumping events
with Franke Sloothaak. The dam Desy is a daughter of the thoroughbred
Grandyman xx, who stems from Great Britain and has been an active stud horse
for the Holstein breed since 1987. Two full-brothers of Desy were approved,
namely Gaspari I (Holstein Association) and Gaspari II (Neustadt/Dosse state
stallion). The invaluable maker of show jumpers, Carneval appears in the
third generation. Apart from other top horses, Carneval also presented the
international show jumper Classicer/K. Huck and represented the famous
Holstein bloodline 104 a. Lorenz in the fourth generation is one of the most
significant sons of the foundation stallion
Lady killer xx. Lorenz managed to establish him self in the mare basis in
Holstein as well as
in the Netherlands via countless daughters. The tough, wiry thoroughbred
Nautilus xx rounds off the pedigree well in the fifth generation. Nautilus
xx left behind impresive show jumpers in
Holstein and later on also in Hanover. Bloodline 3558 also brought forth the
stallions Fargo (private stallion Holstein), Flemmingh and Gran Corrado
(both private stallions Netherlands) as well as the Holstein approval
champion and stallion performance test winner Lavarino (private stallion
Oldenburg, Rhineland).

two pillars of Holstein horse breeding in direct combination, via Capitol I and
Lord. His sire Capitol I always enjoyed great confidence and popularity among
the breeding fraternity, which he already reciprocated early on in his siring
career with outstanding show jumpers such as Corso, Concorde, Cartier, Caruso,
Cincinnati, Cliquot, Calle, Caldas and others. The dam, Wodka II was mated with
Athlet Z and gave birth to the approved Arturo and together with Caretino,
produced the stallion performance test winner Conway. Arturo is meanwhile a
successful international competition sports horse following a brief covering
stint in Holstein. Conway on the other hand, spent a year in Baden-Wiirttemberg
as a sire before going to the USA, where he is celebrating great successes with
Will Simpson. The dam-sire Lord won his approval and became a hereditary
transmitter of extra-ordinary diversity, whose progeny had successes around the
globe. Ramiro in the third generation was a sire of the century. The great-grandam
Corinna was mated with Follywise xx and produced the approved stallion Format
and together with Marlon xx, presented the equally highly esteemed Malteser. Her
sire Albrant broke off his siring career to become a successful international
eventing horse under Herbert B locker. Bloodline 1916 moreover also produced the
approved stallions A l'Amour (private stallion Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar), the
successful international sports horse Controe/Marco Kutscher, Herold, who is
being effectively utilised at the Vornholz stud farm, Laissez faire, the Baden-
Wiirttemberg approval winner of 2002, Lord Inkognito (private stallion Bavaria),
Maron (Holstein Association), Merano I (Hungary), the successful international
sports horse Mowgli (private stallion Holstein, Sweden) and Tesino (private
stallion Baden-Wiirttemberg) as well as the successful international dressage
horse Antoinette (by Anblick xx/Dr. J. Neckermann.
Clearway absolved his stallion performance test in Medingen in
1996 and then went into sport. He won show jumping events with Lars Bak Andersen
up to and including advanced class, with a number of international placements.

Compliment a Hanoverian stallion that has thus far presented
championship winners and show victors as well as foals for the elite
auctions in Verden. His oldest progeny convince through their ride ability
and outstanding jumping qualities. Compliment's sons made the newspaper
headlines once again in the year 2000, when Checkpoint Charly was a placed
finalist at the federal riding horse championship under Hans-Heinrich Meyer
zu Strohen, whilst Cockpit was sold to Austria for the sum of DM 210,000 via
the Verden elite auction. Competent is the first of meanwhile several
approved sons of the highly esteemed Compliment. He carries an agglomeration
of the G-blood of Gluckspilz, Graphit and Gotthard, which is invaluable for
Hanover on the maternal side of his pedigree. |

Consul
Holsteiner stallion (1963-1968) Stamm 1907. Consul was a 16.1H, noble,
well muscled, beatiful stallion with a great deal of charm. Good shoulder
and good lines. Very good gaits. Good bone. Consul produced a lot of very
nice broodmares as well as competition horses with nice legs and gaits.
Consul broodmares are highly esteemed. He sired the dressage horse Granat.

that was bred to Fiance, a full sister to
Lord, to produce
Carbano's
dam Borgia. Borgia was then bred to a
Capitol I son,
Carthago Z,
to produce Carbano. This combination of Capitol I to a Calletto II
mare has proven to be a very successful combination in the production of
show jumpers such as Indoctro, Cassini, Carthago Z, Cento, Corrado to
name a few. This important nick is represented in our Holsteiner stallion

and Verband approved
Holsteiner stallion
Cotopaxi.
He sired 43 Approved sons & 60 State Premium Mares . 1971 Champion of the
Holsteiner 100 Day Test. His incredible bascule and jumping ability is
credited with improving the Holsteiner jumping style. He also passed
on his strong nerves, intelligence and great willingness to perform.
Cor de la Bryere is featured in the
Ausgewahlte Hengste Deutschlands -Gold Cover-2000 edition (Germany's
Yearbook Of Stallions containing all breeds) in a spread of 20 pages.
In this same year book on page 633, the stallion performance test results
from 1998 at each of 13 sites in Germany list the "TOP 10" stallions at
each site. At 11 out of these 13 sites, Cor de la Bryere blood is
represented at least once and up to 4 times at one site marking the
extraordinary influence Cor de la Bryere blood has in German Warmblood

Corporal
by Cottage Son xx was a beautiful,
expressive, totally harmonious
stallion of his sire's type. He has a well set on neck, generous outline,
well blended shoulder, withers and croup. He was good under saddle and
talented over fences. The heritage of Corporal blood is highly regarded in
mares. Found in the pedigrees of
Cotopaxi
and Cantamos subject to relying on the pedigree

Corrado I began by winning his stallion
performance test with the highest jumping index of his fellow contenders
with a score of 137 points, twice receiving scores of 10.0 for his loose
jumping and jumping ability/training and scores of 8.0 for rideability and
gallop. First campaigned at the German Show Jumping Championship in
1991, he eventually became the epitome of jumping sires and a permanent
fixture of international show jumping under Franke Sloothak. His win at
Aachen, considered the toughest competition in the world, set the stage and
in 1994 Corrado I won the German National Championships. In 1996 he became
World Cup champion in Aarhus, Denmark, and Grand Prix champion at Neumunster
and Kiel. Regarded as devoid of Ladykiller xx blood, he has been
invaluable for upgrading the partly impoverished blood basis of the
Holsteiner mares. By 2001 13 of his offspring had made it to international
show jumping level including Cosima II (Markus Fuchs), Copaco Cher (Piet
Raymakers) and Elan Coriana (Aaron Vale).
Corrado I has sired 14 Approved Stallions, 6 State Premium Mares, and 13 of
his offspring are competing at International Grand Prix level. He was ranked
as the 15th best sire in 2000 by the WBFSH. Corrado I and his son Coriano
are owned by the Holsteiner Verband.
Corrado I has won over 500,000 DM in his career
and is consistently mentioned as one of Cor de la Bryere's most important
sons in addition to having the highest competition earnings of any Cor de la
Bryere offspring. At the 1993 Elite Holsteiner sale at Neumunster, three 3
year olds by Corrado I sold for an average of $60,000 each. In Germany in
1997, Corrado I progeny at 2-4 years of age were selling for over 100,000
each. In August of 2001, German trainers express difficulty in obtaining
these sought after bloodlines and spoke of talk that the breeding fees for
Corrado I may be raised to 10,000 DM - approximately $5,000 U.S. dollars. Found in the lineage of
ou own broodmare Chaminox Z |

Cottage xx, he
sired three Grand National winners, and Cottage Rake, a three-time winner of
the Cheltenham Gold Cup, as well as a number of other good jumping winners.
He was also damsire of Cottage Son, highly influential in sporthorse
breeding, and bred a number of good hunters and show horses. His sire was
Eclipse Stakes and St. Leger winner Tracery, son of Triple Crown winner Rock
Sand. Cottage's dam, Casetta, won the Ormonde Stakes and placed in several
other good races. Dam sire of Cottage Son xx |
 |
Cottage Son xx (1944 - 1964) . His lineage combined first
class racing and steeplechasing bloodline and he produced several Olympic
Eventers. According to Jasper Nissen he was "a tall powerful stallion
with long lines, a great deal of expression, slight under-neck, moderate
trot... His products featured best as breeding stock, especially dams, but
also a good number of licensed sons that laid the basis for successful
upgrading in Holstein. All his products made pleasant riding horses, were
easy to ride, willing workers, with a very good, honest temperament."
His endeavours in the Holstein breed are almost history and yet his genotype
is still enjoying unabated popularity today. Even before Cottage Son xx was
stationed in Holstein at the age of 15 in 1959 he had been an outstanding
sire in England. At the 1960 Olympics in Rome, several of his British born
progeny were at the start in three day eventing. This was a good prelude for
the big charismatic stallion in the Holstein breed, even though he came at a
time when horse breeding was totally in shambles and the Traventhal state
stud was close to its dissolution when he began his siring activity there.
After the thoroughbred Anblick xx, Cottage Son xx was the second upgrader in
Holstein following the Second World War. Upgrading of the horse populations
was desperately necessary if German horse breeders wanted to keep abreast of
developments in horse breeding. Horses certainly were no longer exclusively
work animals that could occasionally be ridden as well. In the wake of the
increasing motorisation of agriculture, the breeding goals needed perforce
to be redirected. This is where Cottage Son xx performed marvellous
services. During four years at stud fourteen of his sons were approved and
53 daughters registered in the Association studbook. His best son was
Consul, who unforunately was taken out of breeding too early after covering
for a few years at different Association stations. For quite some time, it
looked as though the paternal line could not be maintained. Capitol I, whose
younger brother began his siring career at the age of fourteen in 1992 was
later to be the only representative of this lineage in the male line.
Capitol I was not easy to mate: Frequently his progeny were too heavy, some
even to say it bluntly, too cumbersome and lazy. The Holstein horse Breeders
Association therefore developed a whole host of requirements and conditions
for the mating of mares with Capitol I (thoroughbred content etc.) for the
maintenance of this bloodline, which at first glance appeared somewhat hard
to comprehend, but ultimately bore fruit. Meanwhile, the legacy of Cottage
Son xx has been placed on a broad basis once again by numerous Capitol I
sons, so that the maintenance of the bloodline in the male line is no longer
threatened. Despite this, the genotype of Cottage Son xx is very much sought
after on the maternal side. Different to his English period, where Cottage
Son xx produced overriding sports horses, this was not so much the case in
the F I Holstein generation. Notwithstanding this however, his influence is
still very much appreciated and in Holstein one can occasionally find people
who meticulously count how many times a horse is inbred to this marvellous
thoroughbred. He is found
in the pedigree of
Cotopaxi eight
times and
in his son Cantamos

Deka a famous Holsteiner mare that produced five approved
stallions: Caletto I , Gonzales (showjumping stallion with the
highest winnings in 1980, very successful at stud),
Caletto II (champion sire of 1980, very successful at stud), Lysander
and Caletto III (1990 winner of advanced showjumping competitions). Deka
also gave birth to two successful international competition horses Cordeka/Herbert
Blocker and Landratin/Hauke Luther. Stallions of Germany, 1997. |
 |
Der Loewe xx was
in his time the best Thoroughbred stallion used in German breeding,
producing especially good dressage horses as well as cross-country horses.
He was only 15.2 hh and was fine boned but his offspring were excellent
sport horses. Twelve of his son's were approved stallions the most important
being Lugano I and Lugano II who went on to found their own line; with
Lugano II presently having the most influence through his grandson Lanthan.
In all Der Löwe produced six state stallions, 158 registered mares and 314
competition horses with winnings of about DM 750,000. Der Löwe was
considered the most important Thoroughbred of his generation and in the
early 80s there were ten of his grandsons or great-grandsons at the Celle
State stud. Der Löwe probably has had more lasting influence in Belgian
jumping breeding where his grandson, Lugano van la Roche has been a major
sire. Der Löwe was put down at the age of 29 and his skeleton is preserved
in the Verden horse museum.
He is a grandsire of our Hanoverian broodmare

Domspatz
Hanoverian stallion
From Duellant's sire
comes the stallion Dollart who founded another branch of the D-Line. This
branch was known for producing mainly show jumpers. The two best stallions
from this line are Domspatz and Don Carlos. Domspatz is the greatgrandsire
of the Hanoverian stallion Diamond Spots who has had a very successful
career in Dressage. He is also the damsire of Grandom an Elite Hanoverian
stallion and successful Jumper.Of Detektiv's three stallion sons, Denksport
produced nothing while Dolman was the most influential, and the Dolman son,
Dollart, started the sub-line, that leads through Domitz to Domspatz. The
more influential Dolman son was Duellant, whose stallion line continues
through Dressmann. The third stallion son of Detektiv, Dwinger established
another line that lead through Diskant to Donnerwetter to Donnerhall, but
that is another story.
A large framed black horse Domspatz has been described by Claus Schridde ‘as
the quintessence of loyal showjumper horses with a preparedness to perform.’
Domspatz left behind a number of
top quality horses for the international showjumping sport, including Dömitz
(Gerd Wiltfang), Domspatz (Thomas Frühmann), Don Rudolpho (Franke Sloothaak
and Michael Matz), Donath (Heinfried Simon), Dorillo (Hugo Simon) and many
more.
His sons Domino, Domschatz and Don Rudolpho (also known as Dux Z), were
privately owned and all competed successfully up to Advanced level. The bay
Domino had great opportunities at the Paul Schockemöhle station and is found
in a number of bloodlines.
Dux Z was an active showjumper for a considerable time and covered in Uelzen,
not far from his original home in the Wendland region, when he was older. He
produced a surprisingly high number of top level showjumpers.
Another black stallion son, Diskus was the only Domspatz to go into the
services of the Celle state stud. He also produced a number of first class
showjumpers including Denizen (Tim Grubb), The Natural (a World Cup winner
in 1987 with Katherine Burdsall) and Doreen (Tjark Nagel). As late at
as 1981, on the official German FN figures of progeny winnings in the sport,
Domspatz made it to 8th place in a very illustrious top ten (Gotthard,
Ferdinand, Der Löwe xx, Furioso II, Grande, Ehrenschild, Sender, Domspatz,
Perser xx, Ladykiller).

Don Carlos (1962 - 1981) 165 cm Hanoverian stallion is a progenator
of 43 State Premium winners and over 24 licensed stallions the Hanoverian D
line, famous for jumpers such as the stallionsThe homozygotically dark Don
Carlos was one of the most successful sires of show jumpers of the Hanover
region after the Second World War. Stationed in Großenwörden all his life,
he produced 283 principal stud brood-mares, of which 43 became state premium
mares, 24 approved stallions and 467 competition horses, that won around DM
1,300,000 in prize money. Of h issons, Drosselklang I and II as well as the
Celle state stud farm sires Don Pedro, Don Juan and Dynamo are especially
worthy of mention, whereby the last two have in turn, presented the
international show jumpers, Genesis and Dollar Girl. A special transmitting
effect crystallised for Don Carlos in combination with the Frustra II -
daughter Forstlady. First she gave birth to the successful international
show jumper of long standing, Diavolo 4, with whom P. Schmitz won numerous
Grand Prix' and thereafter the full-sister Dordogne, who likewise became an
advanced show jumper and was the dam of the advanced show jumping mare
Gladina (by Galan). Forstlady furthermore also produced prime quality
offspring with other sires: Waleska 64 (by Wedekind) was eminent in show
jumping, and the approved stallion Garnet (by Galan) who had a brief
covering term in Oldenburg. After Forstlady's son Diavolo became one of the
world's most prominent show jumpers, she was selectively mated with his sire
Don Carlos once again and produced inter alia, the full-brothers
Drosselklang I and II. The Drosselklang brothers have benefited from the
high esteem in which their full-brother Diavolo 4, who is the Don Carlos son
with the highest winnings of in excess of DM 200,000 is held. The youngest
full-sister Dominique 100 is likewise an active show jumper. The dam-sire
Frustra II is frequently to be found in the pedigrees of performance
transmitters
as for instance in the case of the invaluable stud stallion Graphit, the Grandeur sire Gralsritter, Pik Bube I and II and also the Don
Carlos sons Dakar and Donkosak. The full-brother Drosselklang I covered at
the Celle state stud of Oberndorf until 1991 and is today serving as
ambassador of the Hanoverian breed in Namibia. He is the maternal grandsire
of

Full brother Duden I found in the pedigree of Argentina .
|

 |
Duellant
was known for his great expression and enormous, powerful trot. He sired 42
licensed stallions and numerous DLG award winning mares. Duellant produced
such greats as Dux of Dr Klimke, and Doublette of Rosemarie Springer, Willi
Schultheis and Don Juan. These were very talented dressage horses. In
Hanover, he is the sire of such great breeding stallions as Duft I, II,
Duden I, II, Durban, Dunkel, Derby, Dezember and Davos. Even with
all of these great stallions coming from this magnificent stallion, it is
unusual for his genotype to be in the paternal line. It is most often found
in the maternal line of horses today which is a great pity because it means
that this line will soon be lost. One of the most exemplary pedigrees of
which Duellant is the damsire of Grande with Duellant being the sire
of the State Premium mare Duellfest, Grande's dam. "With Grande you would
say he is by a showjumper out of a dressage mother line, and yet he was a
