A Day in the Life of Cotopaxi
From the Breeding Shed to the Show Ring

What some might not know, is that in addition to his winning style in the Grand Prix ring (Spruce Meadows right), Cotopaxi often shipped out of the shows to collect for mares hours before classes. He is handled for both breeding and prepped for the show ring by Lisa and has exemplary manners on the show grounds attesting to the mind of this stallion.

Congratulations to Sue MacIntosh with Ugandro winning their division Hunter Championship at Thermal 2008, it was wonderful to receive this picture from her cell phone and hear how well they are doing. That is the best part of selling your horses, seeing them go on to be great partners in a really good home : )

Three year old half Thoroughbred colt, Copyright by Cotopaxi shows his classic and consistent free jump. This colt is offered for sale by Cross Country Horse Sales. A link to his video is on the offspring page, and a big thing to note is the willingness to work, this footage is of Copyright with only eight rides on him.

Thank you to everyone along the way, it would be a wildly extensive list of friends, family, breeding clientele, trainers, show organizers, vets, farriers, photographers and so forth made the 2007 season our best ever. But every step of it was undertaken with a huge amount of support and we share our successes with all of you. Pictured right, Travis Root and Cotopaxi compete in their last event of the season, indoors at Thunderbird Showpark jumping1.50m. We look forward to more adventures.

News from Amy Ruge, Amy is a breeder that bred to Cotopaxi in his first year at stud and we could not have hoped for a better home for one of his first foals! ; Cotopaxi daughter, 4 year old mare Lana produced a super Holsteiner filly prior to her start this year under saddle. She won a low jumper class at her first 'A' show after only a few months under saddle.

"Lana is doing great, I really enjoy her, not only is she fun to jump but she is a great riding horse in general. She is always the leader. I am taking her to a John Turner clinic in November and look forward to showing her next year. She has yet to ever stop with me, and I have jumper her over just about everything, she seems to be a lot like her father, with the presence to get things done!"

September 24th, Cotopaxi and Raffaello were selected by stallion judge Otto Schalter for the Rheinland-Pfalz Saar International First Stallion Book. Cotopaxi was the highest scoring stallion at his RPSI approval, stable mate Raffaello was a single point behind Cotopaxi. Both stallions had equal jump scores, with flawless performances through the jump chute. To aid our breeders we will be creating a new statistics page with scores and measurements provided as recorded by registry officials.

August 2007 Cotopaxi displayed his exhuberance cavorting down to the start line of the $10,000 Blaylock Six Bar Challenge and his all business approach jumping through all three rounds of the massive six bar, clearing 1.70m to tie for second place.
